🚀 1. Go to the Official Start Page

👉 Open your browser and type into the address bar:

This is Ledger’s official onboarding portal with all the correct setup instructions and safe download links. Never click links from random websites, search ads, or social posts — many fake Ledger sites exist that can steal your crypto or seed phrase.

📦 2. Unbox and Inspect Your Ledger Device

Before setup:

Make sure the packaging is sealed and untampered.
Only use Ledger devices bought from Ledger.com or authorized retailers.

Inside the box you should find:

Your Ledger wallet (Nano S Plus, Nano X, Stax, etc.)
USB cable
Printed recovery phrase sheet
Quickstart instruction card

💻 3. Download Ledger Live

Ledger.com/start will prompt you to download Ledger Live, the official app for managing your wallet.
Ledger Live is available for:

Desktop: Windows, macOS, Linux
Mobile: iOS and Android

Only install Ledger Live from this official link — phishing versions are actively used in scams.

🔌 4. Connect and Initialize Your Device

Connect the Ledger device to your computer or phone (USB or Bluetooth for Nano X).
Power it on and choose “Set up as new device.”
The device will generate a 24‑word recovery phrase — this is your only backup if the wallet is lost or reset.
Write it down carefully on the supplied sheet (or use a secure metal backup). Never store it digitally or take photos.

⚠️ Ledger will never ask you to enter your recovery phrase on a website or app — any request for this is a scam.

🔢 5. Create a Secure PIN

You’ll be prompted to choose a PIN code (4–8 digits) on the device itself.

You’ll need this PIN every time you access the Ledger.
Don’t share it with anyone.

Once your device setup is complete:

Open Ledger Live
Follow on‑screen instructions to verify device authenticity and install blockchain apps (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) on the device.
Add accounts in Ledger Live to start managing your crypto.

Check balances
Send/receive assets
Buy, swap, and stake supported cryptocurrencies
